Swimming in the sea

Summer is here, yippeeeeee..... go out and jump in the ocean. What can you see? For more ideas to go with this song, and how it came into being, check out the blog. http://onegreenleafecosongs.blogspot.com/ A sustainable conversationFebruary 10, 2008 05:08 PM PST
‘Contentment is gained when we cease to want for ourselves all the apparent 'good' things conveyed to us through our five senses. When our willpower is sufficiently strong to enable us to discern the difference between real needs and superfluous desires, we cease to be driven by the urge to own more and more things. Inner agitation stops and we are left feeling peaceful. When there is peace in the individual, there will be peace in the family. When there is peace in the family, there will be peace in the community.’ (What are the Universal Human Values: Peace, The Institute of Sathya Sai Education New Zealand, http://www.issenz.org.nz/sse_what_are.htm last accessed 17/12/05) T is for TigerFebruary 10, 2008 04:23 PM PST
Music to go with the free lesson plan soon to be available in the 2008 summer issue of HLT magazine, a wonderful free web magazine for teachers:
Music and Lyrics: Renata Suzuki Vocals: Renata, Masa and Cherish Percussion: Greg Chako and Masa Arranged and recorded by Michael Fogarty 14.02.2007at Infiniti Studios Working with the song is not only exploring English: it will help children to question their “natural entitlement” to exploit animals for their body parts, raising consciousness of the unrecognized violence we perpetrate against members of our planet. This conscientization makes the invisible, the given, visible: that within the gendered structure of our society, we feel we can use and abuse animals without thought, to meet any human needs or desires, however frivolous. It rephrases the relation between humans and animals as a planetary family, establishing bonds of sympathy and interdependence with mother tiger, brother rhino and baby whale. It invites children to notice or imagine alternative ways to meet various human needs that do not harm animals. It further offers children a model of speaking out as a means of protection for the vulnerable, lifting their concerns from patriarchal silence and anonymity into the consciousness of the inclusive planetary group.
